FAQ's
Where in Balloch Castle country park is best to park and how do I get there?
Free parking is available at Balloch Castle country park. Head up the Mollanbowie Road and, just before the entrance to Robin House, shortly after a fairly sharp bend in the road, you will see gates into the country park on your left. There is a 5mph speed limit and speed bumps! As you get to the junction, turn right, past the pond and courtyard entrance and park in the car park (for a shorter walk, you may wish to park nearer to the courtyard end) (There are disabled spaces available, however these are down by the castle itself which means a longer walk (back up a fairly steep hill to the site!) If you have a blue badge, feel free to use these spaces to access the toilet facilities before following the road back round to the junction to turn left back into the main car park.) https://maps.app.goo.gl/wD8uzzoZ1xxRDMZY6
Where do I go from the car park to get to the site?
The site itself is a short walk away from the car park. If you walk back towards the courtyard area (where the work vans come in and out) you will see a small lane (coo lane) heading away from the loch. Keep wandering up this until you see/hear us in the trees!! https://maps.app.goo.gl/arp5e4QXKRvry13m7
Are there toilets and handwashing facilities available?
There are public toilets down at the main castle however these are a bit of a way from the site itself. There will be a portable camping toilet and tent on site along with 'camping' handwashing facilities but you may prefer to visit the public toilets before wandering up to meet us.
